Free State fire flares up again

2010-09-08 09:34
Johannesburg - One fire was still raging in the Free State on Wednesday morning, Working on Fire (Wof) said.

"The Rosendal flared up again this morning. We have two teams on the scene," Wof spokesperson Saayman Rossouw said.

The Rosendal fire had burnt over 6 000 hectares.

"It is under control and it should be put out today (Wednesday). It is not posing any serious dangers."

Two other fires were extinguished on Tuesday.

One destroyed 35 000 hectares of grazing land on the border between KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State, and the other, near Willem Pretorius Reserve in Ventersburg, destroyed 20 000 hectares of land.
