Pretoria - The defence force's Captain John Webb, 26, killed while on patrol along the Lesotho border last week, will be buried with full military honours on Friday, said the SANDF on Thursday.
Webb, who died from a chest wound during a shoot-out, was taking part in Operation CIFAT II: 2004, a regional initiative to stop the flow of illicit firearms across Southern African Development Community borders.
His killer, driving a red Volkswagen Golf GTI, opened fire on the patrol as he drove past.
Free State SANDF spokesperson Captain Stan Makhele said the killer was still at large.
Webb will be buried at 07:00 on Friday at the NG Kerk's Rowellan Park in Port Elizabeth.
