Durban - Two people were injured when a truck carrying gas overturned on the R56 in Umkomaas Valley, KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said on Sunday.

"The driver of the truck with a load of gas cylinders lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. He and his passenger managed to escape before the vehicle burst into flames," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

The two were found at the side of the road away from the truck that was already engulfed in flames. Fire fighters called in managed put out the fire.

The injured were stabilised on the scene and transported to hospital, Botha said.
