Johannesburg - The SACP said on Sunday it would take action after the SABC and Midvaal municipality failed to meet its demands.

It had protested against alleged corruption and service delivery failures in Midvaal, and for the dissolution of the SABC board as part of its Red October campaign.

The SA Communist Party's provincial executive committee (PEC) resolved at a meeting on Saturday to develop a political programme of action next year to ensure the demands were met, said the SACP's Gauteng secretary Mamabolo Jacob.

The PEC said the party had focused its activities on helping working class communities since its 10th provincial congress in April lending support to, among others, Lenasia south residents whose homes were demolished in November by the Gauteng housing department.

It resolved to meet the Lenasia Concerned Residents' Association for feedback and facts about the process, and to engage its alliance partners, the ANC and the Congress of SA Trade Unions on the matter.

The PEC also reaffirmed its support for the Cosatu action against the implementation of e-tolling on Gauteng highways, and called for safe, affordable and reliable public transport.

The Democratic Alliance was also discussed at the meeting, Jacob said.

"[The] PEC reaffirmed the character of the DA as the real and direct puppet that represents the interests of monopoly capital and those of imperialism to abort and weaken the [National Democratic Revolution]."

The committee resolved to work "tirelessly and consistently" to defeat imperialism.
