Gauteng to pay health contractors

2012-03-14 14:22

Johannesburg - Gauteng will pay all contractors rendering health services by June, Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said on Wednesday.

"We will pay by June. Some contracts will be terminated, others reviewed for the need to diversify," she said.

Mokonyane was speaking at the Kliptown Clinic in Eldorado Park on a visit to assess the state of healthcare services.

A woman in the paediatric section asked the premier to increase the number of nurses because they were waiting too long before being attended to.

"This clinic has 19 nurses, it is well staffed, we will try to intervene," Mokonyane said while playing with a baby.

"Oh, she's lovely," she said, handing the baby back to its mother.

The premier found three primary schoolchildren at the clinic who were not accompanied by adults. She called the mother of one of the boys on the phone, who said she thought her child was at school.

The premier asked the three boys to go home and return with their parents or another adult. The boys were too young to consent to treatment.

Primary school children? Must have been under the age of 12 otherwise they could have got the condoms they were no doubt looking for.

You sound like a broken record, 6 months ago you would have paid them to.....

How generous, after all some accounts have only been outstanding for + 90 days. Maybe she should only get paid in June and see how this affects her fatcat lifestyle.

Gauteng property owners will pay municipal rates and service bills by June. (Maybe) Is this so-called premier being paid a salary before June? How can it even be, that payment for services rendered, becomes NEWS? Its like me coming out of the Pick'n Pay with me trolley and telling Raymond Ackerman I am going to pay in June. Then I expect him to be overjoyed and I tell everybody what a fantastic guy I am. The ANC is setting a new lowest benchmark every day.

19 Nurses, well staffed. Tell me, is it still well staffed when the 19 nurses ignore the patients while they stuff their faces with KFC? One regret I have is not buying KFC shares in 1993.
