Gautrain shooting: Two get bail

2012-03-15 18:43

Pretoria - Two people accused of shooting and wounding a newly-appointed Gautrain bus driver were granted bail by the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Busisiwe Malema and Frans Makadikoa were granted bail of R1 000 each.

A third accused, Jan Gijima Ndlovu, was denied bail after the court concluded he would be a threat to public safety.

The matter was postponed until March 30 for further investigation.

The driver was shot on Monday in Rooihuiskraal while trial-running bus routes in the Centurion area.

The trial-run was with a view to reinstating routes after recent illegal strikes by Gautrain bus drivers.

About 320 drivers were fired in February as a result of the strike.

Oh yay, lunatics with guns walking free on R1000 bail. This story doesn't explain how the State's case was so feeble that the Magistrate had to let them go.

Maybe he just saw the Malema bit and sh@t himself!

R1 000 bail for this kind of premeditated action is totally inadequate. It will definitely not serve as a deterrent for other disgruntled ex bus drivers.

2 of the 3 granted bail!! On what grounds?? All 3 are thugs. The shooting was premeditated.
