Johannesburg - A five-year-old girl was raped in Flagstaff, allegedly by her uncle who was supposed to look after her, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.

Captain Mdududzi Godlwana said the rape occurred at around 20:00 at Sphaqeni village on Sunday.

"When the mother returned and asked the uncle where the child was, he didn't respond.
