Girl emotional ahead of father's court appearance

Johannesburg - The daughter of a man accused of killing her boyfriend and her boyfriend's father appeared emotional ahead of proceedings in the Benoni Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Blonde-haired Chevonne Liebenberg broke into tears as a photographer took pictures of her sitting in the court's public gallery.

Her father Retief Liebenberg allegedly shot dead Dewalt Visser jun and his father Dewalt Visser sen on 31 October.

Visser jun allegedly called his father to tell him that Retief Liebenberg was holding him hostage after finding him in his home.

The father went to the house and was shot five times in the upper body.

His son was shot in the kitchen of the Liebenberg home.

Both men died on the scene.

Retief Liebenberg was allegedly against his daughter seeing Visser jun as the 19-year-old was believed to be using drugs.

He faces two counts of murder.

The Visser family sat on one side of the courtroom ahead of the proceedings.

Liebenberg's bail application was expected to continue.
