Girl falsely cried rape

Nelspruit - A rape suspect walked free when a court found that his girlfriend had plotted to send him to jail so that she could see her other lover.
The 22-year-old man from KaBokweni near White River in Mpumalanga was acquitted in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Wednesday on three charges of raping his 18-year-old girlfriend.
He had pleaded not guilty and said he was disappointed that he had to spend seven months in jail awaiting trial for something he was not guilty of.
Magistrate Albertus le Roux said the girl's evidence was "improbable" and agreed with the accused that his girlfriend may have been trying to get rid of him to pursue her other relationship.
Le Roux said it was unlikely that a rapist would accompany his victim home after a long night of love-making, send young boys to call her in broad daylight when he wanted sex and let his mother see them going into his bedroom.
He also noted that the girl took a long time before reporting the alleged rapes.
