Durban - Police have still not made any arrests for the rape on Saturday of a 15-year-old girl at a top Durban gym, despite having CCTV footage.

The girl was raped in the change room of the Westville Virgin Active, a gym popular with teenage girls, reported The Witness.

A police source told the newspaper that the suspect is known to the police and “will have the opportunity to explain himself when he is interviewed by the investigating officer”.

Virgin Active spokesperson Les Aupiais told the Daily News that the company was co-operating with police and had offered counselling to the girl and her family.

Aupiais said the alleged rapist’s gym membership had been suspended pending the investigation.
