Johannesburg - A 6-year-old girl rescued her 2-year-old brother from drowning in a swimming pool in Pomona, Kempton Park, paramedics said on Thursday.

"It is not clear as to why the little boy fell into the pool, but we believe that the boy was pulled out after a short period of submersion," said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

"Paramedics arrived to find the little boy was breathing, but he was extremely cold.

"They started stabilising him on scene and then transported him to the Life Glynnwood Hospital for further care," she said.

Who leaves a six and two year old unattended near a pool?

      Prudence - 2012-06-08 08:48

Kids are very slippery, all it takes is two minutes..I have two kids round about the same age and keeping an eye on them for 24 hrs is close to impossible...

Parents should be tried for negligence. All swimming pools should be fenced and covered. Accidents like this one are avoidable . Well done to the little girl who saved her brother.
