Girl's 3 rapes inhumane, says ANC

2012-06-18 14:49

Polokwane - The rape of a 5-year-old Limpopo girl was troubling and "inhumane", the provincial African National Congress said on Monday.

"Children have a right to play and grow in a nurturing and secure environment. No one... has the right to violate the rights of other persons in this, nor any other manner," Limpopo ANC spokesperson Makonde Mathivha said.

"We cannot continue to have these kinds of inhumane crimes being committed against children and women and any other victims of such violent, gruesome acts that strip victims of their dignity."

A man appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Friday after allegedly raping the girl last week, said Limpopo police spokesperson Constable Moses Molepo.

Third rape

This was the third time the Grade R pupil had been raped in Mmamatsha village, in the Ga-Molepo area, since 2010, he said.

The first rape case, in December that year, was provisionally withdrawn, pending DNA results and a social worker's report, Molepo said.

The girl was allegedly raped again last month. In this case, a 28-year-old man was arrested.

Two of the crimes happened while she was walking to school.

The one in 2010 was committed after she was left in the care of her 13-year-old aunt while her parents attended a funeral.

Mathivha said an investigation needed to be done on the case which had been withdrawn.

"The ANC Limpopo wishes to urge all community members, especially citizens directly concerned with childcare... to work closely together with local authorities to ensure that we all put a stop to violations against all children," he said.

The ANC says her rapes are 'inhumane' ??? Geez, you think?

      oscar.vanriel - 2012-06-18 15:04

Un-human behaviour from non-humans...isn't that what one is likely to expect.

      Rob - 2012-06-18 15:52

Yep...We are just not the same. What next...raping due to poverty ?

  • Kala - 2012-06-18 14:55

Of all the words one could use to discribe this horrific act, the anc come up with "troubling"!!!! I think that's exactly where the problem lies. Our leaders don't quite see things the way us honest citizens do. I suppose murder is a bit troubling too. Bunch of inhumane cretins.

      Irene - 2012-06-18 15:01

Kala ~ I noticed the 'troubling' part too. But I suppose it's what's to be expected from scum.

      sylvia.shaw.7 - 2012-06-18 15:16

I so agree with you, Kala. The ANC just don't come out strongly enough against these atrocities. I'm surprised they didn't use another of their favourite meaningless words, like "regrettable."

      Jacqui - 2012-06-18 15:51

Kala, yes 'troubling' is enough to describe this crime. Now look what they called the Spear. Why they were even out there demonstrating, toy guns and whistles at the ready and shouting abuse. But a rape, why that is just troubling. No more than that. Lord, give us a break.

      Alan - 2012-06-18 16:21

troubling and inhumane?! TROUBLING AND INHUMANE?!?!?!? It's f&*king disgusting!!!!!

  • charlesdumbwin.dumbwin - 2012-06-18 14:56

What we should be asking, is what type of society is South Africa becoming with all these viscious crimes against our women and children ??? What are we doing so horribly wrong?

      Jacqui - 2012-06-18 15:54

Charles, what we should be asking, is who is going to pick up the pieces later on when these victims fall to pieces. I know what rape is, I still suffer the consequences, seventy years later and it isn't easy..

      charlesdumbwin.dumbwin - 2012-06-18 16:02

PolioDonkey you are a class-A idiot! Apartheid collapsed in 1992, 20 years ago. So who's been running the police force since 1994? Seems that some other party is to blame old buddy. Try again.

      poloyatonkim - 2012-06-18 16:13

Charles.. Police training today, they still use similar process. If you have a 55 year old training our police, the stuff that he is teaching them he learnt it during apartheid, thats why police are failing today. The system that was used by police during apartheid was designed to protect a certain group of people while the rest of us live in danger in the townships...

      Kenna - 2012-06-18 16:18

Sigh. As far as I know the old police were super-scary and quite efficient. Why would training them that way now be a bad thing?

      poloyatonkim - 2012-06-18 16:36

ThinkingChick.. Apartheid police were only efficient in your neighborhood.

  • Bois-Tête - 2012-06-18 15:00

What is rape? Think it must be some racisit tendency. The forefather spirits say we can just take. God help us trying to live in a single country with these barbarians.

      Jacqui - 2012-06-18 15:56

Bois, God help us trying to live amongst people who think rape is a racial thing. Are we talking about the same God here?.

  • mary.kircher - 2012-06-18 15:01

  • nico.smit.1272 - 2012-06-18 15:02

This would never have happened, if the same ruling party who now say it is inhumane, did not abolish the death penalty. Bring back the death penalty for child rapest and murderers and see thing changing in this country of ours.

  • ferreira.charmaine - 2012-06-18 15:06

Disgusting! cANCer open your eyes it might be too late already!

  • Ryno - 2012-06-18 15:08

my dear anc - thanks to our wonderful laws giving criminals more rights than the survivors crimes like these will keep on happening. oh yes, and add on to the fact that our police service is in an absolute mess, the crminals know that the chances of them being caught an successfully convicted, is very very low. luckily, this guy got caught, but i suppose it is just a matter of time till he is out on bail or released due to over crowding of prisons

  • johns54 - 2012-06-18 15:08

Maybe I am just getting old but this article disturbs me big time.... I mean the comment and the story line.

      Jacqui - 2012-06-18 15:58

Johns54, same here. Some days I feel I should start an organization open to all races, other days I just feel really old. Like today. Imagine being five years and raped three times already.

  • busisiwe.duna - 2012-06-18 15:11

      Rob - 2012-06-18 15:56

I dont think women rape 5 year olds. Huh ?

      Jacqui - 2012-06-18 16:00

Ingwani, how many women that rape do you know of?. Are you justifying the raping of a five year old?. Disgusting person.

      Ingwani - 2012-06-18 16:16

@Jacqies the kung fu kid is just asking, didn’t mean to offend anyone, whether you are 12, 14 a rape is a rape.Read Busisiwe statement, it’s saying their (rapist) hands must be cut and she said their man wood must be cut as well, and I asked what about the women who rape?anyway you are a Bitter person.

      Rob - 2012-06-18 16:32

Ingwani...Jacqui just gave you a kick in the nuts.

  • sean.cameron.7393 - 2012-06-18 15:30

What a bunch of retards, this statement it's like saying water is wet. They always try and act as if they care, if they really cared then they would do something about it - LIKE HAVE A PLAN!, A "PLAN" is not a common phrase in the ANC dictionary though.

  • nigel.burgess.52 - 2012-06-18 15:40

Yes it is inhumane. Furthermore ANC, do not present this as some isolated case. This country suffers a completely unacceptable number of rape and other sexual offence cases. Do something other than hold meetings about this please.

  • Jackie - 2012-06-18 15:41

WOW! What amazing insight?!?! They only just realised???

  • Gavin - 2012-06-18 15:41

TROUBLING ???? then what is bad, a suitcase nuke at orlando stadium ? SA is becoming sodom and gemorah with rape and dumping baby's in toilets becoming the order of the day. SA needs a moral enema.

  • Jacqui - 2012-06-18 15:44

Just a pity the ANC is not giving the children the room to play and grow. Inhumane they call this rape. Raping the country and it's people everyday is inhumane too.

  • Jack - 2012-06-18 15:45

It's just zot culture, that's also troubling.....

  • daniel.motlhatlhedi - 2012-06-18 15:45

  • attie.gerber.1 - 2012-06-18 15:51

it is because the anc allways troughs the constitution at people if something happens, like the bill of rights. the bastards thinks they have a right ti rape innocent you people. these rapist don't care as they think they have a right to five star treatment in our jails.

  • AB.VILJOEN - 2012-06-18 15:54

If you can rape a grade r kid, you can vote ANC

  • BulletProof. - 2012-06-18 16:04

A 13 year old, taking care of a 5 year old she could be raped easily- WRONG, sue the parents as well, a 13 years old is too young to take care of a infant. For the rapist, no comments, nothing you can do until the death sentence comes into our law to stop these savages.

      Jacqui - 2012-06-18 16:07

Why was the thirteen year old taking care of the child? Parents working perhaps?.

  • Phillip - 2012-06-18 16:06

Dear Makonde. Unfortunately people are inherently evil, and unless there is a check on this evil, evil will prevail. Whilst I do not for an instant detract from the horror of this child's experience through expediency of any nature, perhaps you could ask yourself if this tragedy might not have happened, if the party you represent had not stolen the money that was meant to pay the police station's rent, and so offer the ones you claim to be protecting some measure of protection against the evil of man? It is true that no one has the right to violate the rights of any person, let alone a child, in this, or any other manner. How then, is this violation of rights any different to the violation of rights that occurs, when the indigent mother watches her infant die from infinitely preventable disease, because the party you represent stole the money that was meant to keep the rural clinic that is no more open and stocked with medicines, and pay the doctor? How many such children die in Limpopo every day, Makonde? Is it not a violation of human rights that our children will fail the year, because the party you represent has failed to delivery any school textbooks, seven months into the school year? Is it not violation of human rights of gross preportion, for the party you represent to stand up and say they are for the people who voted them to deliver a better life? Is lying not considered a human rights violation in your book, Makonde?

  • Tiaan Liebenberg - 2012-06-18 16:09

Good morning, ANC. Have you slept well? Where have you been all this time? Rape, murder, assault, robberies, have been happening for some time now - they are all inhumane!!!

  • steve.foord.39 - 2012-06-18 16:11

The forum isnt giving me the option to reply to John so im replying here. No John what Alicia was saying "Primitive attrocities occur daily under Leadership" was that the leadership is not doing anything to prevent crime. It has F^&$All to do with race it has to do with basic humanity, crime and punishment. If you cannot see that the crime in this country is getting out of hand then its time you wake up. Wait till its your daughter that gets raped, its got nothing to do with colour. Ill tell you right now, someone rapes my daughter will get killed, i dont care who it was. If the country stepped up and imposed the death penalty they would cut crime drastically, save money on jails which would be far better spend on other things. If you cannot have a discussion about anything without bringing race into the equasion then its time you grow up and leave the adults to discuss these problems.

      Rob - 2012-06-18 16:36

Hmmmm....nothing to do with race. One race does seem to " like em young. "

  • suleman.steele.1 - 2012-06-18 16:25

"Troubling",the ANC have no clue on how to handle this, once communities decide to take matters into their hands and slaughter these cowards, then they will want to stand up and make more idiotic statements like these.

  • joe.irwin.50 - 2012-06-18 16:30

I cannot think of a suitable punishment for scum who can commit such an act, in fact there is nothing suitable. There is no method yet invented that could apply enough pain to these creatures.

  • Erna - 2012-06-18 16:39

If criminals were prosecuted more succesfully and punished more severely these kind of offences would decrease, and that is ultimately the responsibility of the government. And that is why the anc is to blame for this obscene behaviour.

  • wikus.schalkwyk - 2012-06-18 16:41

Seems like rape is the new "sweets" strangers give to little children. Maybe gun laws should be altered to allow kids to protect themselves. Or mob justice should chop chop chop that thingy off.

  • eugene.briel - 2012-06-18 17:15

So now why don't the "People" march against the poor behavior of the criminals, and the poor service of the SAPS / METRO police services. This young girl has had her life ruined by these inhumane "People" and must go through the rest of her life with this. Please bring back the Death Sentence for the murderers, rapists, child rapists and cop killers, they don't deserve a life behind bars where they will get free lodgings, food and medical all at the expense of the tax payer.
