Good Samaritans shot in hijacking

2010-05-21 22:13
Durban – Two men were shot and wounded while trying to assist the victims of a hijacking on North Coast Road in Durban on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

“The one man was shot in the pelvis and the other shot in the chest. They were in a critical condition,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks.

Wicks said the two men noticed a group of people trying to hijack a car in traffic.

“They got outside their vehicle and tried to assist. The hijackers allegedly shot them,” said Wicks.

Members of the community saw what was happening and assaulted one of the hijackers.

The two men were rushed to hospital, Wicks said.

Police were not immediately available to give further details.
