Zuma painting case postponed

The South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has indefinitely postponed a court application by the ANC and President Jacob Zuma to remove a portrait depicting him with his genitals exposed from an art gallery exhibition. WATCH

Johannesburg - The case against the Goodman Gallery security guard arrested for assaulting the man who damaged The Spear was postponed to June 29 in the Hillbrow Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Paul Molesiwa from Core Tactical, a private security company, is out on R1 000 bail.

He is charged with attacking Louis Mabokela who defaced Brett Murray's painting of President Jacob Zuma with exposed genitals.

Molesiwa's lawyer, Rod Montano, said his client was the second guard trying to restrain Mabokela.

"The guards were briefed that morning of bomb threats and death threats at the gallery. It is our contention he was doing his job."
