Gran, 69, raped in front of grandchildren

2012-02-12 20:17

Johannesburg - A 22-year-old Eastern Cape man was arrested on Sunday for raping a 69-year-old woman, police said.

The woman was raped in front of her grandchildren at 01:00 by a man who broke into her house on Mayekiso Farm, outside Butterworth, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

Hearing her screams, a neighbour contacted the police. The man was arrested an hour later.

He would appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Monday, said Manatha.

There are few things in this world a woman fears more than this. The person that would rape a woman of any age deserves no mercy, because he shows none to his victim.

      rbczovczov - 2012-02-12 21:07

A true definition of evil walking amongst us. He deserves no mercy. Hope Bubba will make him his b!tch in prison.

      fishycraig - 2012-02-13 00:01

And the 6 thumbs downs? Obviously rapists themselves.

      Merven - 2012-02-13 09:06

      Bloody animal.

      Gerhard - 2012-02-13 09:17

How sick do you have to be as a 22 year old thinking, mmmm, that 69 year old is so sexy!! Is he so repulsive that he cannot find a woman his own age to have consensual sex with?

      Keelvol - 2012-02-13 09:20

@gerhard - in order to have emotioons like that, you have to be human. That POS is a subhuman dog.

      StirMonger - 2012-02-13 09:58

I'd like to know who in their right mind could possibly disagree with Sharon. We see some pretty idiotic stuff on these pages but there are some real plonkers out there. And by the way Merven - animals don’t do this stuff – sicko’s & barbarians maybe.

      galef - 2012-02-13 10:01

even subhuman dogs have more in their brains....cow sh*t is what he is..no wait..even cow sh*t is useful as virtilizer..he is just scum...thats all...he should not be breathing right now...kangaroo court is what he needs from his community

  • Max - 2012-02-12 20:25

    Siek moer!

      David - 2012-02-13 09:51

It's time that the government do something about crimes like these. This could have been your own mother or grandmother. Why does rape happen so much in our country?

  • Phillip - 2012-02-12 20:28

    Name him and shame him!!!!

      Mike - 2012-02-12 20:33

I would rather they just put a hole in his head.

      Kevin - 2012-02-12 20:38

Name him and shoot him. Rubbish like this have no shame

  • Ben - 2012-02-12 20:32

He has something that needs to be removed.

  • Wouter - 2012-02-12 20:38

What a waste. 22 years old and he's condemned himself to a life of crime. Sometimes I wish the government could just stop and actually try to figure out how a young man like this could turn into such a horrible monster. Certain parts of society in SA is just plain f*cking animalistic barbarism. There's no other word for it.

      alansmartSnr - 2012-02-12 21:03

I've said it before, It's very sad and sickening but it's their genes and the Government will have to do something about it. Our SAPD are slowly turning things around lately but these crimes should be a priority when it comes to sentencing the perpetrators. Hope he rots in jail!

      Michele - 2012-02-12 21:11

90% of Africa are born with genes that enable them to commit these crimes, and far more barbaric crimes too. In recorded history it probably dates back to Shaka. A life of crime is a way of life, with few or no consequences.

      Alex - 2012-02-13 01:57

Trudy, they are indeed sick... But we should pity them, imagine going through life being so utterly stupid and ignorant, blinded by moronic hatred that they have no idea how to be human beings. This story is a tragedy, a family has had their souls destroyed and they publicly display their lack of humanity and inability to feel anything other than hate.

      Trudy - 2012-02-13 08:30

@ Russel. You are right. I did not see that, but I have witnessed police brutality during the 70's and the policemen were not black. I was on the receiving end of apartheid. To my mind the perpetrators of apartheid were beyond evil

      Trudy - 2012-02-13 08:41

@ Yes Russel. I did not see that, but I did witness police brutality in the 70's. I was on the receiving end of apartheid. Where I stand, the perpetrators of apartheid were beyond evil

      Trudy - 2012-02-13 08:47

If we could overcome apartheid, we can overcome this utter madness that we are facing now.

      Merven - 2012-02-13 09:07

With role models like Julius Malema, are you really surprised Wouter?

      galef - 2012-02-13 10:10

Oh please @Wouter....that is utter crap.....many many serial killers.....rapist and many more other criminals come from normal homes....yes i do agree that many come from homes with bad upbringing and poverty and they turned to crime to survive.....but rape a 69 year old woman?....that’s just plain sick!!....rape anyone, male or female is just plain sick ...but i do not agree that its genetic...and even as somebody here said that it is genetic....then how come ppl that have murderers ,rapist etc as fathers or mothers or both....yet they are not!!...many ppl grow up in household filled with hate ..crime and all the bad that goes with it...yet they don’t do it....naaa i cant agree....sorry....!!!!....just my personal opinion

      Alex - 2012-02-13 12:26

Well considering the history of Australia and all those criminal genes floating around there, the place should be one massive crime scene... It's amazing that will all this concrete scientific proof that the nature vs nurture debate is still ongoing and they are not just checking for the markers at birth and taking out those with the criminal gene before they have a chance to walk.

  • Dinah Ontlametse Khudunyane - 2012-02-12 20:40

    sies....he needs to be castrated

      Klaus - 2012-02-13 05:14

Dinah, sex begins with thinking of sex - by castrating you do not eliminate the drive (i think) get some info on LOBOTOMY ?

  • Dumblabrat - 2012-02-12 20:41

  • George - 2012-02-12 20:47

Please Mr Minister of police, may I have three seconds with this SOB, asseblief, toe man.

      fishycraig - 2012-02-13 00:03

      3 seconds is too short.

      seanpresherhughes_1 - 2012-02-13 02:38

@Fishy - It only takes one second to chop with a cleaver! Unless you want to use a bread knife of course........

Its good he is arrested sothat he gets a chance of how it feels like to raped. He will have plentifull time for that.

  • Nomazulu Zuzu Njemla - 2012-02-12 21:02

He deserves a life sentence & I hope the gran kids will receive counselling!

  • Rupesh - 2012-02-12 21:14

i hope he is raped repeatedly in jail, and with pain of course.

  • Charmaine - 2012-02-12 21:19

This is why I am telling President Zuma to implement the punishment of Sjambokking these bastard rapist in public. Or else cut of the penis. This could happen to any woman, and we women must speak out against these crimes. They only get fines and sent to prison and this is not enough punishment. Let us be the VOICES of the Victims.

  • sbriedenhann - 2012-02-12 21:19

I am so horrified. This is a disgusting, sick criminal. Viva death penalty, viva!

  • Sylvester Mohloli - 2012-02-12 21:20

The fact that he actually got an erection is what makes me sick to the core, hope he drops soaps, bloody savage....

  • Naeema Davids - 2012-02-12 21:20

  • Mahesh - 2012-02-12 21:20

torture this sob before he hangs

  • Warren Nel - 2012-02-12 21:25

Why is this sick rape and extreme senceless violence so prevelant in the Black community? It also flows. Fron outside traditional living areas into other living ares, CBD's etc.? I have heard many stories from my workers, and how they are affected. It is so common, severely affects families, yet seldom successfully acted on by SAP. We need something / one drastic to deal with these thugs. Our government / SAP / legal system has performed extremely poorley over the last 2 decades with the crime issue. CHANGE

  • Tshivhombela Fhatuwani - 2012-02-12 21:29

This man deserved on scene mob justice, nonsense!

  • Bulie MaGcuma Nyamela - 2012-02-12 21:43

The only solution to this rape thing is to cut the rapist's penis sending them to jail won't help they come back and do the same thing.

  • Josie - 2012-02-12 21:44

For Gods sake when is this going to stop!

      galef - 2012-02-13 10:13

@willem....I recon these Doooooses that keeps thumbing down on anything said against the rapist.. ...are probably doing it themselves....its the only explination

alansmartSnr and william, it's in your genes too. Ask Johan Kotze whose gene does he posses? Ugly faces

  • Gordon - 2012-02-13 01:00

Well done to the reporter for not commenting on race. It helps us all move beyond racial attitude, and focus on the seriousness of the crime at hand.

  • seanpresherhughes_1 - 2012-02-13 02:32

This is to me the most rotten crime ever - these criminals shoiukd not get the death penalty, that is a "too easy way out", they should hsve their penises sliced with minora blades just enough for him to blead slowly but surely in jail for the rest of his meagre life! It must be slow and painful and his equipment should nver be able to work again!

  • seanpresherhughes_1 - 2012-02-13 02:47

To all givingnthe thumbs down ikn this article, bar a few for obvious reasons, you should be tracked down and arrested for suppoting such an intollerable crime - your minds are sick and probably come frm the same "gene pool". are you a gang of rapists that support each other?

  • Mpho - 2012-02-13 03:02

Rape again? Is this our news South Africa? I am so sick and tired of this!! Who rapes a 69 year old woman? In front of kids for that matter. The damage done to those poor kids.

  • MissusMads - 2012-02-13 05:24

Don't know which is more DISTURBING; a gran being raped infront of children, or all these thumbs down (obviously in support of such behaviour)!!! Sick to the core.

  • Godfried - 2012-02-13 05:47

    Bring back the Death Penalty!

  • Andre Sunnasy - 2012-02-13 06:43

Before I read the article, judging from the headline, i knew it had to have happened in the eastern cape...what is wrong with that place???

  • Joseph - 2012-02-13 07:19

This whole country should stand up and demand that if you rape they must cut your penis and fingers of and when you steal cut one hand of if you hijack or kill old people and children stone them to death, only then will we have any order and respect for other people especially woman. Raping an old woman we cant even call you a bloody animal for you are the lowest life form ever.

  • Louise Higham - 2012-02-13 07:32

This poor woman what hell she went thru, this savage should be fed to lions bit by bit.jail is too good for him.

  • Silvana - 2012-02-13 08:50

Nice to see there are still caring neighbours and well done to the cops. We don't have the death penalty or Shariah law, so until rape is taken seriously in this country and the rapists get life sentences for the crime, we will never stamp this out. I still think hard labour should be reintroduced. Sweat the libido out of these pigs through hard work.

  • Samantha - 2012-02-13 09:40

Having been in "that line of work" and to a degree still am, I can tell you now he won't be in that jail for more than 2 week.

      galef - 2012-02-13 10:16

@samantha...I have to agree...he will be out on bail by thursday...probably R500 - R1000....so i hope the community get hold of him and aply the kangaroo court justice with him....specialy the family...

  • Santapola - 2012-02-13 10:27

If only Malema was a president of this country

  • Olivia - 2012-02-13 11:13

What a sick thing he is. Rot in prison, after castration.

  • Jayne - 2012-02-13 11:26

I think that all criminals should have a tattoo or branding done on their face so that when they are released everyone knows who they are so that we can protect ourselves, and so that they are shunned from all communities!!!!

      Emily-Jane Elson - 2012-02-13 22:35

      Great idea!!

  • ludlowdj - 2012-02-13 11:47

Leeukop Maximum Prison seems to know what to do with this sort of prisoner, send him there for a while.

  • Chappies ZA - 2012-02-13 19:05

  • Jackky - 2012-02-15 12:42

the most disappointing thing is that a lawyer will be solidly behind this bastard in court arguing and fighting for his freedom all in the name of democracy and human right....some times i due wish jungle justice should be applied in cases like this.
