Grandmother killed in N Cape accident

Johannesburg - A woman died and five people were injured in an accident outside Kimberley in the Northern Cape on Sunday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said a father, mother, two children and their grandparents were travelling in a Volkswagen Kombi on the N12 at 11:00 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.

Visser said the Kombi crashed into a roadside pole and caught fire.

"The grandmother sustained various, fatal injuries and was declared dead on scene," he said.

The grandfather, father and mother sustained various burn wounds.

The children suffered only minor injuries, said Visser.
