Johannesburg - Nick Greyling, the SuperSport sound engineer who was kidnapped in Nigeria last week, has issued a statement with his wife, Lorna, on Thursday to thank people for their support during his captivity.
"It was a trying week and I'm thrilled that it's over. It feels like a miracle to be back with my wife, kids and family. Now I just want to relax and spend time with them," he said in a statement issued by M-Net and SuperSport.
His wife said they did not have words to describe how much the family appreciated the support.
"We would like to thank everyone who supported us throughout this ordeal."
"Firstly, close family and friends, who prayed for us, brought food and flowers, and supported us in every conceivable way."
"Also the people of MultiChoice, M-Net/SuperSport and the department of international affairs, who worked around the clock to assist us."
Doing well
"We praise and thank the Lord for Nick's safe return. We are doing well; we're just very tired," she said.
The family requested that people wanting to contact them do so via the Facebook page "Free Nick Greyling" or send an email to info@dieakker.co.za.
Greyling arrived in South African on Wednesday morning after being released on Monday night after a week in captivity.
He had been taken hostage with two of his Nigerian SuperSport colleagues - cameraman Alexander Effiong and commentator Bowie Attamah - when their bus was attacked in the Imo province, near the Oweri airport.
Effiong escaped soon after the attack and Attamah was released on Friday.
