Cape Town - A Cape Town security guard who managed to escape death three times in the last month was shot and killed in Khayelitsha, it was reported on Wednesday.

The Daily Voice reported that Elias Dyasi, 59, had survived three attempts on his life in less than two weeks.

"First a group of men who were travelling in a car pointed a firearm at him two weeks ago," an unidentified friend said.

"Again in the same week a man he was walking with was shot in the leg when they came under fire. And then a group of men threatened him with a gun again last week."

On Monday afternoon, Dyasi was standing outside the doctor's surgery in Site C that he guarded, when he came under fire.

Two men reportedly jumped out of an Opel Corsa and shot him several times before taking his gun and speeding off.

Dyasi died upon arrival at the hospital.

Khayelitsha police confirmed they were investigating a case of murder.
