Gunman shoots three joggers
Johannesburg - Three joggers have been shot and injured in three separate incidents on Sunday morning in Polokwane, Limpopo police said.
"Police have opened three counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm after three men who were jogging in Bendor in Polokwane were shot at by an unknown gunman," said spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba.
The men, two aged 47 and one aged 42, were jogging separately at about 09:00 near the corner of De Wet and Schalk streets when they were shot at.
Two of the men were shot in the thigh and the other man was shot in the buttocks.
They were able to walk to a nearby petrol station where they were picked up by an ambulance and taken to a local hospital.
All three have since been discharged.
"Preliminary investigations show that an air rifle used for shooting birds was used... Motive for the shooting has not yet been established."
Ramatseba appealed to anyone with information about the shooting to contact Lieutenant Colonel Angie Maloma on 082-565-8073.
