Johannesburg - Five armed men were arrested on Saturday morning after 10 gunmen robbed an Edenvale Kwikspar of an undisclosed amount of money, and ran away with customers' cellphones, police said.
Captain Sophie Mayisela said two firearms with erased serial numbers and a 4X4 Colt bakkie were confiscated during the arrest.
The vehicle was hijacked in Olifantsfontein near Tembisa on Monday, Mayisela said.
She said 10 armed men stormed into the Kwikspar in Edenvale outside Johannesburg around 07:45 on Saturday, and demanded money from the employees.
The group then took the money and robbed customers of their cellphones. The men ran away with the cash and other goods. However, five of them, aged between 20 and 35, were later arrested.
They would appear in court soon.
