Hanged girl found under tree

Kimberley - A 13-year-old girl has committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree in Hartswater in the Northern Cape, said police on Wednesday.

"The girl was found lying under the tree with a rope around her neck and another piece of rope hanging from the tree in Schoeman Street at 15:20 on Tuesday," said captain Tony Modise.

"There was a chair next to her."

Modise said it was suspected the girl had hanged herself as a note was found in her bedroom.

The girl could not be named because her next of kin still have to identify her.
