Cape Town - Multiple fraud accused Jurgen Harksen's last known assets in South Africa, a Jaguar car and jewellery, were auctioned in Cape Town on Tuesday night, the Cape Times reported on Wednesday.
Harksen, 42, is on trial in Hamburg for fraud involving $20m. He faced further charges in South Africa, but was extradited to Germany.
Harksen's metallic burgundy red 1996 Jaguar XK8 with only 27 967km on the clock and valued at an estimated R500 000 was auctioned for R382 500 at the President Hotel.
Four watches - a Dunhill stainless steel lady's watch, a Fiorucci Time Swiss, a Swiss Ikepod Hemipode Chronometer and an Oyster Perpetual Rolex - fetched R41 150.
Ronen Jackson of the auctioneers said they were delighted with the attendance and prices fetched for the jewellery and the Jaguar.
The new owner of the Jaguar, Henk Vryenhoek, a Pretoria earthmoving equipment dealer, said: "I specially came to Cape Town to buy the car.
"I thought it was a good buy because of the low mileage."
