Johannesburg - Two men who posed as policemen then hijacked people have been arrested in Pretoria by the Hawks, spokesperson Musa Zondi said on Saturday.

After receiving reports of two people robbing people around the city, the Hawks and their intelligence colleagues investigated and tracked them down and cornered them at Pretoria North's Mayville shopping centre.

They were driving a Golf GTi that was hijacked in Sunnyside at the beginning of the year, and on investigation, police found two more vehicles that had been hijacked in Akasia, at their property in Kameeldrift.

Investigators also found three rifles, a revolver, a police uniform, different rank signals, four blue lights and a sizeable amount of ammunition.

The two, who are not policemen, would appear in court on Monday.

Zondi asked that anyone who may have been a victim, to contact Colonel Senona on 012-301-5400/01.
