Heavy rain causes train delays

2012-02-09 08:55

Johannesburg - Heavy rain caused train delays in Johannesburg on Thursday, Metrorail said.

There were delays between Johannesburg and the western side of city because of heavy rain which caused power failures in Vereeniging, Nhlazane, Dube, New Canada, Crown, Kliptown, Midway, Booysens and Oberholzer, said spokesperson Tony Games.

"There is no train movement at the affected areas," he said.

"Our technical team has been deployed to these areas to resolve these challenges in order to restore the service back to normal."

He advised commuters to make alternative transport arrangements to get to work on time.
