High speed chase ends in crash

Johannesburg - A high-speed car chase between police and six suspects ended in a crash on the N12 highway in Boksburg on Thursday, paramedics said.

Derrick Banks of ER24 said the suspects' car rolled near the Jet Park off ramp while travelling towards Johannesburg just before 18:00.

"Four of the suspects were caught and treated for their injuries before being taken to a local hospital," said Banks.

"Two others managed to flee to Jet Park and police were looking for them."

One of the injured suspects was shot, while the others were injured during the accident.

Two lanes of the highway were open and traffic was flowing smoothly, said Banks. He did not know why the suspects were chased by the police.

Police were still on the scene just before 19:00.
