Durban - DA shadow police minister Dianne Kohler Barnard was full of praise for the police for their quick response after her son was hijacked on Tuesday night.

Kohler Barnard tweeted: “My son just hijacked outside my house NUR55847 - silver Audi A5-4 armed men. Tracker on it Morningside, Durban with red BMW contact me now.”

Within half an hour of posting the tweet, she told The Witness that the car had been found in Bonela.

“I’m so impressed. Within 10 minutes, the police arrived here, and working with Tracker, they found my son’s car in Bonela.”

She said four armed men took her son Peter Barnard, 24, a martial arts expert, out of the vehicle outside her house, and made him lie down on the ground. He was unhurt.

“The police really did an amazing job,” she said, adding that she was going to join Tracker and the police to go to Bonela, where the car was found.

She added that they would not be able to touch the car as the police needed to dust if for the suspects’ fingerprints.

“I want these men behind bars,” she said.
