Johannesburg - Three men were arrested after they crashed the car they had hijacked in southern Johannesburg on Friday evening, the city's metro police said.
The men, who were on foot, hijacked a white Nissan Navara at gunpoint from a man in Hydra Street, Bushkoppies, next to Eldorado Park, shortly before 18:00, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.
While speeding away from the scene they drew the attention of a police patrol, who gave chase. They lost control of the car, collided with a VW and a Toyota, and overturned. Nobody was hurt.
The three were arrested and expected to appear in the Kliptown Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of car hijacking and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
