2012-05-12 22:00

Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested for hijacking a car in Diepkloof, Soweto on Saturday, Johannesburg metro police said.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the men were arrested in a roadblock along Chris Hani Drive, after a shoot-out ensued between a tracking company and the robbers.

A Toyota Avanza that was hijacked at gunpoint was recovered, he said.

Two suspected stolen guns were found in the possession of the robbers.

I AGREE SHOOT THEM. If arrested they will get bail and be back on the streets in days.

You can't go around shooting anc voters

Stewart boy, if you feel frustrated, unrecognised, disliked or unappreciated PLEASE write your k*k comments on the toilet roll in your toilet and let the next user flush them down. Its not a joke being hijacked boy and when someone says SHOOT THEM, you'd better believe them. I'd shoot them ANC, DA, IFP, ACDP voters or whoever!

      stuart.steedman - 2012-05-13 07:48

Unlikely to be ANC voters, Stewart. You have to be an SA citizen in order to vote.

Why do they risk their life by chasing a hijacked car when no one was killed? sometimes they just stop us from defrauding the insurance companies.Damn! too many rambo's I see.

      stuart.steedman - 2012-05-13 07:49

That's what they're paid to do, Semantla. Are you suggesting that cops and security personel should rather just sit and watch 7de Laan when the call to apprehend a stolen car comes in?

      Sylvester.Mohloli - 2012-05-13 09:17

nice name Sematla (Fool), ur post fits ur name lyk a hand to glove :)

Well done on catching these hijackers we must rid our society of these thieves they are killing our country

      stuart.steedman - 2012-05-13 08:11

Agreed. I hope the justice system processes them quickly, and locks them away for the maximum prescribed sentence

@ Stuart.steedman. I don't think you are giving the guys who bravely arrested these guys enough credit. To call them minimal wage workers with no tertiary education is just wrong. A lot of people in the security industry are very highly qualified and highly experienced. They are working to keep YOUR environment safe. Geez, think before YOU post...

      stuart.steedman - 2012-05-13 08:06

I stand by what I said. a) The guys on the ground, the ones in hot pursuit, ARE minimum-wage earners, with an acceptable variance of a thousand rand or so. b) Those with tertiary qualifications don't become full-time cops. No doubt you could probably cite one or two examples, but, they're far far outnumbered by those who have a simple Matric issued by SA's finest education system corruption can buy. I'm not saying I don't appreciate what they do, but let's not mince words here - these people are not fit to be able to decide on-the-spot life-and-death situations.

whats so sad is that although it is good to report these arrests - the sad thing is that the thousands of muggings armed robberies hijackings common assault sexual assault rape murder home and business break ins that happened yesterday will never be reported....just a tiny grain of sand lifted from the dune but the dune remains.

A round if applause to the law enforcers. It's high time that criminals learn that crime has never been and will never be tolerated in this country. The law should take it's course.

  • Vincent - 2012-05-13 11:50

Toyotaaa? Avanzaaa nog al? They should've shot these cheap criminals straight to the nearest cheap hell.

  • Rob - 2012-05-13 19:20

Why arrested? Why not killed in the 'ensuing' gun fight... No waste of taxpayers money, no bail, no prolonged court cases, no more 'repeat offenders'. These 'arsewipes' are destroying the Tourism Industry in SA, as well as the country as a whole...
