Hitchhiker bust with Mandrax

Port Elizabeth - A hitchhiker carrying a substantial number of
Mandrax tablets in a backpack has been arrested near Grahamstown, Eastern Cape
police said on Monday.
The drugs had an estimated street value of R240 000, said
Captain Mali Govender.
Police were carrying out vehicle checks on the N2 highway on
Sunday when they came across the man.
Police found 3 000 Mandrax tablets inside his backpack.
"He allegedly hitchhiked from Port Elizabeth and was
travelling in a maroon VW Golf, which was stopped by police," said
Govender.
More Mandrax tablets were found wrapped in a newspaper.
The 28-year-old man, who faces a charge of drug possession,
is due to appear in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court soon.
