Home owner kills robber during struggle

2012-03-15 20:24

Johannesburg - A house robber has been shot dead in Alberton, south of Johannesburg, police said on Thursday.

Captain Pinky Tsinyane said three men were trying to rob a house in Brackendowns around midnight on Wednesday.

"On entering the house, a suspect was confronted by the house owner. The owner shot and killed him after a struggle."

Two of the men jumped over a wall after the shot. They got into a silver Peugeot where a fourth man was waiting.

Police recovered a 9mm pistol from the dead man, and a second one near the wall his accomplices jumped over.

No arrests had been made.

    Kill or be killed.

      rbphiri - 2012-03-15 21:03

The minds' of criminals are intelligent proof but not bullet proof.

      Russan - 2012-03-15 21:26

Great News Brackendowns... form an armed night patrol, and waste them crime as you see them. Be aware, some of our SAPS have night jobs-carrying TV's !!!

  • Koos - 2012-03-15 20:30

Good. One less animal to worry about.

      rbphiri - 2012-03-15 21:06

Better dead, than them being alive in prison to enjoy our tax.

      koo.doyle - 2012-03-16 06:58

Really? When was the last time an animal tried to rob a house? Animals do NOT behave like that, don't insult them.

  • Mikkel - 2012-03-15 20:44

    Well done. Jou DORING.

      rbphiri - 2012-03-15 21:07

Give that man a Bells and the criminals braincells.

  • Teboho Mphaloane - 2012-03-15 20:46

This is so cool. If only more robbers met a similar fate.

      rbphiri - 2012-03-15 21:09

Stupidity inevitably leads them to this path.

      waynehabig - 2012-03-15 21:12

I think you're gonna see more of it... Or perhaps not see more of it but it's gonna happen more and people will just be less likely to report it. The police are looking weaker by the day (not to mention more stupid by the actions of yet another incompetent chief) and people will only be pushed so far before they start taking action into their own hands... Which is not a good thing but it is better than becoming another statistic.

      Glyn - 2012-03-15 21:26

      Right!

      Glyn - 2012-03-15 21:31

What I find sad is that it is due to the idiocy of the our illustrious (ha! ha!) government that drives people to crime. IF the government was more proactive to generating employment ( chopping idiot regulations) then there would be fewer desperate people turning to crime. PS: Vote DA.

      Teboho Mphaloane - 2012-03-15 21:56

@Glyn, but we shouldnt overlook the fact that a lot of people still endure poverty without resolving to prey on others through crime.\r\nI know kids who still had a shelter over their heads and 3 meals a day from their hardworking yet would still steal and rob others rather than earn what those things they like honestly. It's inexcusable.

      Teboho Mphaloane - 2012-03-15 21:59

      ...''hardworking'' PARENTS...

      Michael - 2012-03-16 08:15

@Glyn you beat me to the dumbest moaner of all. I know many poor people who don't resort to crime to earn a living(some of them are within my immediate family). In fact most criminals are full-time employed in that role backed by big crime bosses who stay in security/golf estates. (Take the "king of bling" as an example. Asset Forfiture Unit confiscated, inter alia, 3 Harley Davidson bikes from him just yesterday - remember that he lived in a lavish estate in centurion. was he poor? NO). Even our neighbouring countries have higher unemployment rate than us but do you see majhority of unemployed there resorting to crime? NO. So never use poverty as an exuse to commit crime!

Why the thumbs down in some comments, did you miss the fact that the criminals were armed and 2 guns belonging to them were found, what did you think they were going to use them for.

      Lynton Lewis - 2012-03-15 21:29

The only people giving thumbs down are either robbers themselves, politicians or relatives of either. Well done to the home owner, just hope he doesn't get into trouble! May his file mysteriously dissapear!

  • Malcolm - 2012-03-15 22:50

Looks like we in SA are now privatising the death sentence because Zuma says "NO" to death sentence (See News24 headlines)

      corneliusjansen2 - 2012-03-16 00:10

I think we do need the death sentance also..but i in no way condone or agree to the Iran styole of executions....maybe more home owners should just get guns....we all gave our weapons back to the police and now we are like easy targets just waiting to be killed one at a time....the joke is that nowhere does it say if Mr homeowner is Black, Clrd, Indian or white. All races are living in all suburbs so now the robbers dont know who they are going to run into while breaking in.

      Theo De Jager - 2012-03-16 06:35

      Maybe we should nationalize it.

  • Xavier Kotze - 2012-03-15 23:02

Mr home owner just made my day! Good man.

  • corneliusjansen2 - 2012-03-15 23:59

great...they should all be shot dead one at a time...we are tired of criminals.

  • corneliusjansen2 - 2012-03-16 00:12

I have many poor white friends (poor due to AA, EE and reverse discrimination) yet not one of them break into anyones house in the middle of the night to steal anything....

      Sonwabile Langa-Nomvalo - 2012-03-16 00:41

reverse discrimination? ignorant, and fear of change! if u do recognise the 'reverse' part...it's not the reverse but empowering the PDIs to match you who discriminated first!
