Honeymooners die in car crash

Bloemfontein - A young couple from Hertzogville died in a gruesome accident in the Karoo a little more than a week after they got married.
Joggie Pretorius, 30, a farmer from Hertzogville, and his wife, Yvette, 25, were on their way home from their honeymoon at the sea when their bakkie crashed into a truck outside Beaufort West on Sunday afternoon. A truck was allegedly passing another truck when it crashed into their bakkie.
Captain David de Klerk, a police spokesperson from Beaufort West, said the couple died at the scene due to multiple injuries.
The truck driver, 45, from Kempton Park was arrested and was being held at Beaufort West. He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday on a charge of culpable homicide.
The Pretorius couple got married on February 3 on Christiana.
They lived with the groom's parents, Frikkie and Maisie Pretorius, on the farm Geluksgevonden.
Pretorius jun farmed with his father and his wife was a clerk at the detective unit of the police in Hertzogville.
Yvette Pretorius is survived by her parents, Johan and Yvonne Heysteck and a brother, Janneman.
