'Houdini's' case referred

Pretoria - The case of Annanias Mathe, the Mozambican national charged with escaping from Pretoria's C-Max prison in 2006, was referred to the Johannesburg High Court on Friday.
Appearing briefly in the Pretoria Magistrates court wearing a white wrinkled shirt and grey trousers, Mathe had his case postponed to November 12.
The state had also to centralise all the charges against him.
The 31-year-old Mozambican is facing 76 other charges, including 16 charges of housebreaking with intent to steal, theft, three charges of indecent assault, four of robbery, two of attempted rape, attempted housebreaking, unlawful possession of housebreaking implements, 12 counts of malicious damage to property, two counts of corruption, theft, theft from a motor vehicle, and two counts of escaping from lawful custody.
