Houghton dad shoots robber

Johannesburg - A suspected house robber was shot and wounded by a homeowner, Johannesburg police said on Sunday.
Captain Phillip Maganedisa said the man attempted to break into a house in Houghton on Saturday morning and broke one of the windows.
"The owner of the house and his son heard the window breaking and went to inspect where the noise came from.
"They saw the robber outside the house and fired a warning shot. The robber threw a brick at them and was thereafter shot in the stomach," he said.
The man was taken under guard to hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating a case of attempted house robbery and the man is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court when he is discharged from hospital.
