Polokwane court fire

The Polokwane Magistrate's Court caught fire forcing a quick evacuation. Eyewitnesses estimate 80% of the building has been leveled by the flames. See the pictures.

Polokwane - A fire tore through Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning, reportedly causing a large part of the building to collapse.

Emergency workers were busy evacuating people from the building, Beeld reported. At 10:00, however, awaiting trial prisoners were still in the holding cells.

It is unclear how the fire started but the blaze appears to have begun in one of the magistrate’s offices, Beeld said.

It is unknown if anyone has been injured.
