Johannesburg - Clad in nothing more than red Speedos, over 600 men ran along the streets of Parktown in Johannesburg on Friday to raise awareness for cancer.

"Men are way behind women when doing self exams of their sexy bits," said Carel Nolte, spokesperson for the founding sponsors and organisers, Etana Insurance.

The four-kilometre daredevil run began at Etana House in Parktown and headed to the Johannesburg Zoo before returning to the company's offices.

The event was aimed at raising awareness and funds for testicular and prostate cancer, in a memorable and entertaining way.

Nolte said organisers were hoping for a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
