Husband stabs wife to death

Johannesburg - A Graaf-Reinet man was arrested on Sunday morning in connection with the murder of his wife, Eastern Cape police said.

It is believed that both the husband and wife were drunk at the time of the incident, said spokesperson Captain Esna Senekal.

The woman is believed to have returned home late and hit her husband on the head with a pipe. He then allegedly stabbed her in the head and neck with a knife.

Police were called to the scene by neighbours and the man was arrested, said Senekal.

He will appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
