The men were dressed in police uniforms and one had a docket under the arm. Another was wearing a bullet-proof vest.
It was the second armed robbery at the family's home in two months.
The panic-stricken victims did not want to disclose their identity.
Asma*, 31, said: "It was terrible. About 10 o'clock three 'policemen' came to our front door. They arrived in a white Polo. One stayed in the car.
"They said they were investigating a perlemoen case against my husband. They said if we didn't open the door, they would break it down.
"We opened the door and my husband, Zain*, took them to the lounge. They said I had to join them there.
Joked with child
"I called out to my mother and one 'cop' shoved me into the lounge.
"Another one went to fetch my six-year-old daughter from her bed.
"In the meantime, the others took out their guns. This was when we realised something was seriously wrong."
Asma said the "cops" were calm, even polite. They apparently joked with her little daughter all the time.
A friend who arrived at the house, was also held at gunpoint.
Asma said: "My friend recently had a heart attack and had to take one of his little tablets.
"The robbers told him to remain calm and said he could go to bed."
Zain, 26, saw the violent side of the robbers, however. They took him to the bedroom and hit him over the head with a gun. They also stabbed him in the leg.
Later, Asma and Zain were taken to the toilet and told to sit on the floor.
Said driver had ordered hit
Asma said: "Here, one robber said one of our drivers, whom we had fired, had offered them R10 000 to shoot us."
The couple own a number of take-away outlets.
Asma said: "The robbers were calm throughout. They knew exactly who we were and what we had.
"They left with cellphones, a laptop, cash, jewellery and electronic equipment.
"They took the keys to my friend's Nissan Navara, parked at his house across the street.
"How could they know this? They also asked me for the keys of my husband's BMW M5. The robbers then left."
The docket, filled in and issued at Strandfontein police station, was left behind.
The family is helping police compile identikits of the robbers. They are also looking at photos and identikits of suspects.
