Cape Town - The Independent Complaints Directorate says they are investigating the death of Henry Andrews, 41, who was allegedly shot dead by a police officer in Paarl.
The investigation body said on Monday Andrews, who was employed by the department of correctional services, was shot dead on Saturday.
He was visiting an unnamed police officer's home and was shot twice at close range in the driveway. The weapon used was the other policeman's service pistol.
The 37-year-old police officer handed himself over and was expected to appear in Paarl regional court on November 11.
ICD national spokesperson Steve Mabona said they were investigating a murder, as well as the fact that the officer concerned also had a prior attempted-murder case pending against him.
