Cape Town - The Independent Democrats have suspended Lennit Max, its former Western Cape leader, as a member of the party with immediate effect, pending a formal disciplinary hearing, the party said in a statement on Thursday.
A formal disciplinary hearing would be held in early January 2005 when Max would be charged, and he ran the risk of being expelled from the party.
The party added that the suspension was also applicable to his status as a member of the Western Cape Provincial Legislature.
Max had been informed to return all party and legislature property immediately and he would not be allowed to take part in any party activities.
