IEC candidates to be interviewed

Johannesburg - Ten candidates vying for the position of a part-time commissioner of the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) will be interviewed by a panel chaired by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, in Johannesburg on Monday.

The position became available following the resignation of Raenette Taljaard in late February.

The members of the panel are SA Human Rights Commission chairperson Lawrence Mushwana, Commission for Gender Equality chairperson Mfanozelwe Shozi, and Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, according to a statement issued by Mogoeng’s office.

The candidates for the position are Nomsa Praisy Masuku, Tshinyalani Charlotte Mavhungu, Simon Zwelibanzi Mbokazi, Lizeka Noxolo Mda, Mokgadi Sylvia Mothapo, Fulufhelo Velda Mphuthi, Nkosikhulule Xhawulengweni Nyembezi, Mautji Eloridge Pataki, Mahmood Sanglay, and Gerdileen Taylor.

The interviews, which are open to the public and media, will take place at the Southern Sun Hotel at OR Tambo International Airport from 09:00.
