'I'd like to see him hang'

Pretoria - Vengeance was uppermost in the mind of Sheldean Human's grandfather when the seven-year-old girl's killer was found guilty.
Andrew Jordaan, 26, of Pretoria West was found guilty in the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday of murder, kidnapping, attempted rape, rape, indecent assault and possession of dagga.
"They should have hanged him. It would have given me great pleasure to watch," said Fourie.
"Fifty years wouldn't be enough for what he did to my meisiekind."
Fourie wants to do to Andrew Jordaan what Jordaan did to his seven-year-old "little girl".
"I want to strangle him."
"They must not leave me alone with that man.
"She was just a little girl who had her whole life ahead of her. He must be chucked away."
Fourie said Sheldean was his little girl and that he missed her every day.
The fact that Jordaan had been found guilty brought a little acceptance, but did not make life much easier, said Fourie.
'I knew it was him'
South Africa's top detective, Director Piet Byleveld, was ecstatic over Acting Judge Chris Eksteen's verdict.
"I believed Jordaan was guilty from the beginning," he said. "When he pointed out the hole (a manhole in which the little girl's body was found), I knew it was him.
"He is not the kind of man who belongs on the street," said Byleveld.
Jordaan could possibly be sentenced on Wednesday.
Judge Eksteen said Jordaan had taken Sheldean to isolated bushes 500m from his home in a "premeditated manner" to sexually assault and murder her.
Jusge Eksteen rejected Jordaan's version of what happened on February 18 2007 when Sheldean disappeared, calling him "a blatant liar".
He also rejected Jordaan's claim that he had been coerced and tortured by police to confess to the murder, saying it was unlikely.
"The accused took Sheldean with malicious premeditation to the shaft to have sexual intercourse with her and to kill her.
"His goal was to destroy the evidence of sexual intercourse.
"If his goal had been only to have sexual intercourse then it could have taken place in his room, as it did with her friend.
The court accepts she was strangled before her body was thrown in the manhole ... the court also accepts that the accused penetrated her private parts with his fingers before and after her death," he said.
Judge Eksteen said he personally believed Jordaan raped Sheldean, but that the evidence could only support attempted rape.
He also found that Jordaan raped and indecently assaulted one of Sheldean's friends during an earlier incident.
Must have seen it personally
Sheldean's friend, who had been with her earlier on the day of her disappearance, testified in court what Jordaan had done to her.
Judge Eksteen said the friend could not have spoken of certain sexual acts, bodily fluids and pictures in Jordaan's room if she had not seen them herself.
When the case was postponed, Jordaan appeared as emotionless as when the judge had found him guilty.
He got up, exchanged a few words with his mother, father, step-father and sister and then walked down the stairs to the cells.
