Johannesburg - Four men have been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and dagga in Sundumbili, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.
Captain Thulani Zwane said they were taken into custody at various homesteads in the Gudwini area on Tuesday night.
"Police were following up information about illegal firearms in the area," he said.
A 9mm pistol, a .38 Special revolver, a home-made shotgun with 23 rounds of live ammunition of various calibres, and 60kg of dagga were seized in the raids.
The firearms were sent for testing to ascertain whether they had been used in the commission of crimes.
The arrested men were expected to appear in the Nyoni Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of dagga.
