I'm ready to be arrested: Malema

2012-09-03 18:21

Johannesburg - Expelled ANCYL president Julius Malema reportedly confirmed on Monday that he had received the public protector's provisional report into claims of corruption against him.

He told the Mail & Guardian online he was ready if anyone wished to arrest him.

Malema would not talk about the contents of the report as it was confidential, nor about a probe into his affairs by the SA Revenue Service.

He told the website his "imminent arrest" was a political ploy by those unhappy about his role in the aftermath of the Marikana shooting, in which 34 workers were killed and 78 wounded during a protest at Lonmin platinum mine on August 16.

Malema said he would make himself available to law enforcement agencies whenever they were ready.

"They have our address. They have the contacts of our lawyers. There is no need to dramatise the action. They will have to call me, I will go," he was quoted as saying.

"There is no need for drama. I am a well-known individual. I won't run away. The truth will prevail at the end."

Malema said: "I am aware of the [looming] arrest. One of [Police Minister Nathi] Mthethwa's bodyguards phoned me to say he overheard the minister talking to people about my arrest. There is nothing genuine. It is political."

Malema insisted he had done nothing wrong.

  • Cameron - 2012-09-03 18:31

Julius, u need a creche, not a prison......there are no baby sitters in prison and u get building blocks in creche, the toddlers could teach u a thing or 2.

  • tobydt - 2012-09-03 18:32

Please police, we want drama! We want you to barge in and cuff the tsotsi. We want a scuffle to ensue. We want rubber bullets and pepper spray. And we want it all photographed :P

  • johandebeer - 2012-09-03 18:35

    Mmmmm. Some bodyguard.

      raymond.dick.12 - 2012-09-03 18:51

My thoughts exactly. There is someone who should share a cell with Juju Fat Boy MalEmma

      brandon.mccutcheon.56 - 2012-09-04 04:11

Exactly! Obviously this bodyguard of Mthethwa was his spy. He has now gone and sold him off if not sacraficed. Why? Who knows? If he can rat on his informant, surely he would do the same with his cronies. Seems this kid cannot be trusted. All Mthethwa will do is check who was with him when he made the statement, polygraph those and he will be able to determine who it was. Its security protocol. So, Malema, who is next?

  • lumka.ludada - 2012-09-03 18:36

    Interesting times in S.A.......

  • johandebeer - 2012-09-03 18:36

  • douglas.reid.921 - 2012-09-03 18:40

That won't shut him up, news 24 will sit outside his cell and hang on his every word. Without Juju there's no news!!!

  • irene.buthelezi.1 - 2012-09-03 18:41

Come on public protector. Go get the fat pig now and him out of his misery. Lock the porker up and forget to feed him.

      irene.buthelezi.1 - 2012-09-03 18:52

Dubula ~ Firstly, I'm not a toddler. Don't reflect your own image onto me - your might be an adult but your brain is still lost in adolescence. Secondly, your hero is a pig, a big fat corrupt, thieving pig and he's going to jail.

      theo.schoeman.71 - 2012-09-03 18:58

@DubulaAmanzi ... Malema is nothing other than a pig. He is in the process to destroy a wonderful country.

      irene.buthelezi.1 - 2012-09-03 19:08

@kolobe ~ Sorry to disappoint brain-dead one. I'm neither. Go back into you corner, shake your head really hard until your ears flap your brain awake and try again.

      irene.buthelezi.1 - 2012-09-03 19:49

veldt66 ~ Only when you tell me what kind of veldt you are. C'mon, reveal yourself man. We want to know if you're a barren, dry veldt or a lush green one.

      kevin.watson.7906 - 2012-09-03 21:23

Why is every one insulting pigs?

      merven.halo - 2012-09-04 08:13

DubulaAmanzi is right, Malema is not a pig, he is a idiotic pig.

      thabang.bonang.7 - 2012-09-04 10:51

@Irene, first time I hear a black person referring to another as a fat pig. Ouch!

      kolobe.mzansi.9 - 2012-09-03 18:55

frankly malema is a mandela in his own right

  • Michael - 2012-09-03 18:51

No wonder he has been all over the show lately, he knows that his days are numbered, i think he want people to start revolution over his arrest. Malema need to explain where he got money to bild R16.000.000.0 and all other asserts like farms, etc.

  • dnxumalo2 - 2012-09-03 18:55

You are right Malema but you also need to shup up when you know that you have skeletons in your closet.they do have valid reasons to arrest you because you shared too much money with them and you might blow their coruption cover with your wide open mouth.

  • Steven Trollip - 2012-09-03 18:56

    High way to mangaung....

  • jeremy.forbes.1293 - 2012-09-03 19:05

I sense the other thieves are taking cover, Malema will sing like a canary, he knows were all the bodies are buried and who got all the loot. He will soon be joined by some big names or alternatively they will do there best to keep him out of prison. Lets see who brakes cover first to defend Malema, these will be equaly guilty ones.

  • Malose-Nyatlo - 2012-09-03 19:05

Even toddlers know that in SA it takes months, if not years, to formally charge an individual with corruption. It is a mischief to suggest the 'emminent' arrest is related to Marikana. The mess that Limpopo has become is a direct consequence of Malema's stupid greed. The music is about and he must dance!

      willie.botha.9480 - 2012-09-03 19:37

Yes. The funny thing is everybody knows this man has been under investigation for a while now. Just shows you what an idiot hê is. This guy has verbal diarrhea at best of times.

  • Gerda Malherbe - 2012-09-03 19:16

So why does the minster's bodyguard phone his tjommie with the info? Isn't what happens around the minister supposed to be confidential?? Take back his police clearance and fire his ass of the force for violating his terms of employment

  • stanton.clarke - 2012-09-03 19:17

I hope Mthethwa's bodyguard is going to be sanctioned for opening his mouth!

  • jennifer.d.martin.750 - 2012-09-03 19:18

  • africa.tshipembe - 2012-09-03 19:20

while we must be happy that another corrupt one will bite the dust,we must be careful not to create a HERO whose ideas will gain momentum with his arrest.if it wasnt for the court cases against showerman,we probably would not have him as our prez. Patience is needed here, they must wait for the mangaung conf and then pounce because then he wont be able to point fingers at political rivals with the next conf 5yrs away.if they do it now i forsee chaos with opposing slates using him for gains there by elevating him to some kind of a matyre

      adrie.nel - 2012-09-03 22:00

My man you are so correct . . ..

      peter.grant.1023611 - 2012-09-03 22:31

A very insightfull comment. Sadly I doubt the top dogs have the insight themselves. I believe they will want him out the way BEFORE Mangaung as they are afraid of him. Its a pity really.

      tobie.bosman - 2012-09-04 13:08

Africa you speak the most sense out of all of these comments. Big up!!!

      frans.visserdsb - 2012-09-04 13:09

i agree 100%. Zuma used his trials to get a lot of political leverage, and became president as a result. If he can prove there was a political agenda in investigating him, it will get thrown out as there is allready a legal precedent with our current president...

  • phae.rayden - 2012-09-03 19:27

I hope they have all done their work properly before they arrest him. If not we're in for a very rough ride, this guy needs to be dealt with as expediently and professionally as possible. If they drag their feet, he and his backers will organise chaos. This devious dysfunctional man's popularity is a shameful reflection of a large section of our people who are so desperate for a better life, they are unable to think with reason and logic. If there is a competent leader somewhere in SA, please step up!
