Johannesburg - The grandfather of two girls, aged 4 and 10, who were allegedly raped and sexually assaulted by their father, has been arrested on similar charges.
Police arrested the 56-year-old man and his 44-year-old friend in connection with the abuse and rape of the children, said police spokesperson Annaline Prinsloo.
The grandfather was arrested at the Germiston magistrate's court early on Thursday, and his friend at his Alberton home.
The 56-year-old, who was arrested at the Germiston magistrate's court, will face two incest, three rape and three indecent assault charges. His friend will face two rape and two indecent assault charges. He was arrested at his Alberton home.
Meanwhile, the girl's 33-year-old father appeared in the Alberton magistrate's court on Thursday on charges of rape, incest and indecent assault.
He was remanded and his case was postponed to March 10.
He allegedly abused and raped his two daughters, aged four and 10, as well the elder daughter's 10-year-old friend.
The man was arrested at the Sundome in Randburg on Tuesday after his wife, suspecting that the children had been abused, approached the child protection unit and asked them to investigate.
The two girls were examined by a doctor who confirmed that they had been abused.
Police believe that at one stage the man, a kitchen interior contractor, gave his children money to have sex with him.
