Johannesburg - Three people were injured when a fight broke out between Ethiopian men and their surrounding community in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday evening, paramedics said.
Three Ethiopian men were treated for minor superficial stab wounds and a South African woman also sustained a minor injury to her elbow after rocks were allegedly thrown at her, ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said.
She said one of the Ethiopian men treated by paramedics told them that a fight broke out in the community after his brother's car was vandalised for no apparent reason.
Questions about the car incident allegedly saw a bigger crowd of people from the community become violent against the Ethiopians.
Jackson said the incident resembled xenophobic attacks, however added that she could not state for a fact that it was.
Police were on scene to try disperse the crowd.
