Inge Lotz 'knew her killer'

Cape Town - Inge Lotz was killed by someone who was "not unknown" to her.
That was the conclusion reached by investigating officer Deon de Villiers at her flat in the Shiraz complex where she was found murdered, in Welgevonden, Stellenbosch.
De Villiers began his testimony on Monday, in the murder trial of her boyfriend, Fred van der Vyver.
De Villiers testified that he found receipts in her bag from, among others, the Superspar where she had shopped before she was bludgeoned to death.
A copy of a security video tape was submitted to the court and showed her shopping there on March 16 2005.
De Villiers testified that he had attended the post-mortem on Inge's body, two days after her death.
Wounds caused by different implements
Reviewing the testimony of former district surgeon of Stellenbosch Dr Ansie Adendorf, who did the post-mortem, De Villiers said she had explained that the wounds had been caused by different implements.
One was a knife with a straight edge "sharp enough to cleave through bone".
The investigating officer testified that Van der Vyver, Marius Botha and Braam Kruger were asked to give statements.
Although he had asked all three to first prepare their own written statements, he had "to this day" not received one from Kruger.
Van der Vyver's handwritten statement, as well as a sworn statement setting out his movements on the day before and on the day of the murder, was handed in as evidence on Monday.
Van der Vyver stated in writing that he was in the Old Mutual offices from about 11:15 to about 17:30 or 18:00, after which he left for his flat.
Prosecutor Christhénus van der Vijver asked if the ornamental hammer owned by Van der Vyver could be acquired easily, to which De Villiers replied that he had covered a lot of ground trying to find a similar one.
As far as he could determine, the hammer was imported and it was not available at stores like Clicks, or Toys for Boys.
The trial continues.
