Johannesburg - Four awaiting-trial prisoners have escaped from the Siyabuswa police station, Mpumalanga police said on Sunday.
"They damaged the door of the holding cell and got into the exercise yard where they cut through the roof and escaped," said Superintendent Abie Khoabane.
The escape was discovered during a routine check around 19:00 on Saturday.
The four men are Levis Mohlala, 23, Calvin Sibiya, 31, Enoch Mabena, 22, and Welcome Molambo, 23. They were arrested for crimes including armed robbery, car hijacking, house-breaking and theft committed during the past three years.
Police have warned that the men should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knew their whereabouts was asked to call Detective Inspector Ernest Maoka on 082 318 9843 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
