It’s about time we keep taxis on road

2015-08-22 09:33

TAXI drivers are the worst drivers on our roads. They obey no road rules nor do they care for human life and limb. All they are interested is to overload their and get to their destination as quick as possible.

They speed, overtake on the barrier line or on a blind rise, cut dangerously in front of motorists, stop anywhere they like, drive on the pavement and jump robots. No one does anything to end this menace on our roads.

In Ballito the overloaded taxi flew off the on-ramp to the N2 and landed on the railway tracks and was slammed by an on-coming train which flattened it like a matchbox. It was one of the most horrific accidents ever seen.

The Taxi Association’s much publicised, ambitious venture into the skies is still grounded. But it needn’t worry. Its taxis fly on our roads. If Santaco ever gets off the ground it would not be short of pilots.
