Johannesburg - Aspiring judges have until Friday June 17 to get their nominations in for vacancies around the country, a Judicial Service Commission (JSC) statement said on Tuesday.
The vacancies include that of judge president for the KwaZulu-Natal High Court, following the death in May of Herbert Msimang.
There is one vacancy for deputy judge president of the Supreme Court of Appeal, one in the electoral court, where candidates need not be judges, but should be either attorneys or advocates, and one vacancy in the Eastern Cape High Court in Grahamstown.
There are two vacancies in the Free State High Court, three other vacancies for judges in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court, one vacancy in the Labour Court, five in the North and South Gauteng High Courts and three vacancies in the Western Cape High Court.
Nominations must be accompanied by the candidate's written consent, detailed curriculum vitae disclosing the candidate's formal qualifications for appointment, the standard questionnaire completed and signed by the candidate, as well as copies of at least three written judgments by the candidate.
The standard questionnaire to be completed by all nominees is available on the Constitutional Court website www.constitutionalcourt.org.za.
Interviews are conducted in public.
