Jailbirds suspected of murder

Lephalale - One of the suspects in the murder of an elderly woman on a farm in the Limpopo Province was under correctional supervision at the time of the crime.
A second suspect in the murder of 84-year-old Rina du Plessis of Tom Burke also has a criminal record.
Jan Medupe was apparently put under correctional supervision on February 28 after he was found guilty of housebreaking in the area in August last year. He was initially jailed for six months and then released.
Medupe's co-accused, Oriel Monyebodi, was found guilty of rape in 1996 and he served his sentence. In May 2001, he appeared in court on charges of stock theft.
He was imprisoned and was released on parole, which ended in July.
